Windows Phone Gaming?

March 10, 2010

We’ll find out more next week at MIX but at the Game developers conference some details have come out about the latest dev kit for Zune, Xbox, and Windows Phone.  XNA 4.0.  Looks like some great possiblities for 3D gaming.  There’s also an example of starting a game on Windows Phone and playing it on Xbox Live right where you left off, how cool!  Time will tell.  Get more at engadget.

Windows Phone 7 Series

February 16, 2010

I’m loving my Droid.  After years of putting up with WinMo, it’s been a great change.  I had really given up on Microsoft, but they really seem to have come out with a game changer.  Similar to Windows 7, Zune, and Xbox, Microsoft threw out the manual and came out with something unique and lust worthy.  Unfortunately it won’t be available until holiday season 2010.

Here’s a rundown of some links:

Microsoft Courier Tablet

October 2, 2009

With all the hype the last months surrounding the mythical Apple tablet it was a bit of a shocker to have Microsoft show off one of the coolest tablets yet!  Although not an official product yet, the Courier is a two screened tablet, like a book, that has some very unique functionality.  It doesn’t look like a full blown Windows tablet but the demos are definitely worth checking out.

CEDIA 2009 and Media Center

August 10, 2009

engadget HD has some interesting predictions for Windows Media Center and next month’s CEDIA show in Atlanta.  With Windows 7’s improvements, the Zune HD, and the Xbox updates, it could be an opportunity for Microsoft to show them all off.  engadget HD’s predictions for you Media Center fans can be found here.

Zune HD sounding better all the time

August 5, 2009

It seems like people love to bash Microsoft, but call me crazy, 9 times out of 10 if they stick with something they eventually get it right.  The Zune HD is starting to make the “preview” rounds and it’s sounding great.  HD video, gorgeous screen, touch interface, and lately were starting to hear about a great browser.  The only thing I haven’t seen in the screenshots is the “Games” menu, so I wonder if XNA gaming is going to make an appearance or not.  Otherwise this looks like a great gadget.  Check out the latest at Cnet and engadget.

Report: Steve Jobs Happy With Apple’s Tablet, Fast Tracks It For Early 2010

July 24, 2009

There have been numerous rumors over the last year about a famed Mac Tablet, today they seemed to really heat up with some credible coverage.  Both TechCrunch and  engadget have some articles about it.  Although recent revenue numbers don’t confirm it, Microsoft has been catching up to Apple in the marketing and mind share space.  Windows 7, Zune HD, Xbox updates, TV ads, and now retail stores.  Apple has secured the premium laptop space but nothing has been a “grand slam” lately, just nice upgrades to maturing products.  If the tablet rumor is true it could be another game changer for Apple.

Windows 7 RC – now you see it, now you don’t

April 19, 2009

The Microsoft Partner Website had an announcement for the public RC of Windows 7 starting starting May 5th and a link for MSDN and TECHNET subscribers to download it now.  However; if you went to MSDN downloads it was no where to be found.  I kept checking till Midnight CST and still no downloads.

Now the RC page on the partner site has been removed and it’s only the beta data.  What’s going on?  Certainly this must mean the RC will happen soon.  May 5th is a Tuesday, I wonder how early they will release it to MSDN?

Now you see it:
