Apple Backlash
August 12, 2009I have my fair share of Apple Envy and I do admire their products. Being a PC guy you get used to the jabs against Microsoft and the cheap shots, well.. not really.
I think Microsoft, like many large companies can have their problems but in the end they make a lot of great products. I know a lot of people like OSX and think it is great, but if you controlled every piece of hardware that was going to run on the operating system you were building, you would have an advantage too. Microsoft, on the other hand, allows their systems to run on a ton of different hardware. Because of the advantage the control of the hardware gives Apple, I don’t think OSX will ever (legally) run on anything other than Apple PCs.
That same control is in iTunes, iPod, and the iPhone. There’s an interesting read over at Calacanis.com by Jason Calacanis, who has always been a Apple fan and now he has made some good points against Apple’s current tactics. That’s not to say their products are poor or they’re a bad company but it is fun conversation.
